Wireless Speakers
Basically, wireless speakers do exactly the same thing as all typical speakers. They actually also translate an electric signal into an acoustic one. However, the difference is – the signals are not transmitted through wires, but rather through radio waves or sometimes through infrared waves like in some surround speakers you can find on the market.
How Do Wireless Speakers Work?
Normally, wireless speakers work in tandem, a transmitter and a receiver. Generally, the transmitter picks up signals from an audio device or CD player which it is connected to and eventually sends them to the receivers which are the speakers actually, whether they are placed in another room in the house or even outdoors.
Essentially, for wireless speakers to function, there should be a power supply. More or less, such supply should come through a wire, but if you are using batteries well that’s a different story.
The Range Covered
In general, most wireless speakers work within a range of 150 to 300 feet right from the transmitter. Nonetheless, the RF frequency is strong enough to perforate through walls and furniture as well. However, some individuals are still skeptical about these figures.
The Interference Along
Usually, wireless speakers operate in the 900 MHz FM range. However, unluckily, there are other home appliances and devices that may function within the same range as the wireless speakers, so it’s very possible that there might be some jamming or interference that could actually take place between them.
Oftentimes, wireless speakers are said to interfere especially with baby monitors and older cordless phones. However, at present, due to the advancement in our technology, there are already some good wireless speaker systems that allow you to do some tuning in order to overcome those interferences with some other appliances or devices in your house or place.
Considering the Batteries
Basically, wireless speakers need to use a power supply for the very reason that they have a built in amplifier. However, if you seek to have some sort of an alternative nowadays, you will be most likely advised to consider using batteries or the AC adapter instead.
